Samantha,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I'm sure Ben Settle would agree that it largely depends on the audience/market you're serving… if you're marketing a product or service that's predicated on your attention to detail and/or professionalism (e.g. accounting services, insurance, legal <strike>council</strike> counsel), typos could certainly hurt your cause.

But I think that Settle's right when he says that most people won't notice those small errors.

[...] Faced with two false statements, side-by-side, readers are more likely to believe the one that’s typed out in boldface. (See what I did there? I used repetition as a rhetorical device.) [...]

While an interesting idea, I simply can't fathom it. When I see typos in a business' communications, it instantly makes me regard the company as less professional. I understand the concept that it makes something seem like less of a sales pitch to some, but for me it just makes me think it's a sales pitch that someone didn't put a lot of time into if there are typos in it.

Scott Bartell asked about how many people scan QR codes. Here's some recent research I came across on that:

*52% have seen or heard of QR codes
*28% have actually scanned a code
*6% say QR code has led to a purchase
